Igloofest Chaos: 2 Minutes with Chippy NonStop
We Grabbed (Legit) 2 Minutes With Chippy Nonstop Before Her Set At Igloofest

My production team (aka my good friend Christine) and I, hit up Montreal with one goal: have a fun weekend. We had nothing lined up and nowhere to be, so we thought why not go to Igloofest? We had peaked at the weekend’s lineup and decided last minute to grab tickets and whip out our earmuffs.
In a last-ditch attempt to secure some interviews, I spent the day before manifesting and emailing managers. As avid fans of Chippy Nonstop and Pep Rally, we reached out to her team to no avail. Nevertheless, we were still excited to watch her set.
We were able to set up an interview with HoneyLuv (who was one of the coolest people I’ve ever met) after Igloofest, so we entered the festival grounds ready to chug some Red Bulls and dance since we weren’t meeting up with HoneyLuv until 12:15 AM.
Yet, the Instagram Gods shined down on us.
Chippy had replied to a story we’d posted expressing excitement about seeing her set later that night, and in the great words of Avril Lavigne, we thought What The Hell, and tried a final attempt to see if she had some time before her set to meet with us for a quick interview.
It seemed like my manifesting worked because she replied that she’d messaged us when she got there and we could have a quick chat.
And quick it was — about 5 minutes before her set she messaged us to come to the side stage. After fighting back and forth with the VIP security guards (who rightfully were denying us entry because we lacked any sort of VIP passes or media passes) we finally made it backstage to have a (legit) two-minute chat with Chippy before her set.
Let’s just say, it might have been the most chaotic two minutes of our lives, but we got to have a great convo with her and learn a bit more about the iconic DJ.
Hey guys, so we're here at Igloofest with the Chippy Nonstop. What are you most excited about for your set tonight?
Just going off, going home. Feeling sexy. That's about it.
So, Acclaim Magazine called you “the poster girl for the Tumblr generation". And you're somewhat of an internet legend yourself. Could you describe your relationship with the Internet a little bit?
It's actually wild because I was just thinking about it today. I was like, the fact that an era that I already lived through is coming back is like insane to me. I'm like, oh, Tumblr chic is a thing. I was like, wow, I'm an old-ass bitch, but I still look cute sometimes.
You're a DJ legend already, but you're also somewhat of a fashion icon, as we can see. How does that play into your role as a DJ?
I just like looking good. It makes me feel confident. It makes me play better. It makes me feel good. That's it, yeah.
And who are you wearing tonight?
This is Sinéad O'Dwyer, if I said it right. This is my favourite right now because she knows how to keep it all in, you know?
