Fashion icon, Princess Diana, attended the very first British Fashion Awards, in 1989. Today, it has become a star-studded event we eagerly anticipate every year.

The British Fashion Awards is a vibrant gathering that unites the international fashion community in London. The event honours pioneers and talented individuals in fashion and supports the future generation of British fashion innovators. The BFC Foundation’s main fundraising event is important for supporting the future of the British fashion industry.

However, the Fashion Awards also shines a light on the influential role that fashion plays in culture. The event is more than just an awards show. It’s a lively platform for emerging British talent; it brings together international fashion brands with the best British designers, artists, and influencers.

Quite a splash occurred during the 2023 British Fashion Awards.

Sarah Burton, the maestro behind Alexander McQueen's awe-inspiring collections, was a top pick for the Designer of the Year Award. However, it was Derry-born designer Jonathan Anderson who was honoured with receiving it instead.

Valentino Garavani, who celebrated his monumental influence in the industry at the age of 91, received a special tribute during the awards. And to close out the show, history was made by the British-born, LA-raised Paloma Elsesser who was named the 2023 Model of the Year award. She is the first plus-size model to take home the award.

However, before the actual awards get underway, there's the red carpet — aka the real event (at least for those of us sitting at home watching).
