The indie-rock landscape is no stranger to the winds of change and innovation, and Neptune's Core is at the forefront of the revolution, now channelling their storm with the release of their double single, “Box” & “Anyway,” through Side Hustle Records.

Riding high on the waves of critical acclaim and audience adoration, the band continues to redefine the boundaries of alternative rock with their latest project, showcasing the depth of their artistry and the strength of their presence in the genre. Neptune's Core’s commitment to pushing sonic boundaries shines brightly in their two new offerings. “Box,” born out of a late-night burst of creativity, captures the electrifying moment when everything clicks in the studio.

Lead vocalist and guitarist Sofie Richter describes the experience as life-changing, recalling the euphoria of creating the track alongside her bandmates. Their synergy is palpable as they chant the emblematic lyrics, "over again, never be all yours," a chorus that Sofie cites as one of her fondest musical memories.

“Anyway,” on the other hand, marks a milestone for the band as co-writers Sofie Richter and Jackie Cywinski meld their voices in an emotional and subtly bold narrative. The track, enriched by its diverse vocal layers, invites listeners into a spacious sonic experience, as described by bassist Hannah Richter: "It's unlike any of our other songs in how subtly bold it is... 'Anyway' feels like space."

Released alongside the duo of singles is the band’s dynamic EP, "Called Upon."

Guitarist and vocalist Jackie Cywinski speaks of the EP with pride, emphasizing the beauty and diversity that echoes the collective spirit of Neptune’s Core. The EP is a snapshot of the band's journey, brimming with vulnerability, joy, and the rawness of self-discovery.

The rise of Neptune’s Core has been a crescendo of talent, timing, and allure, with critics like Jill Hopkins recognizing their swift ascent in Chicago’s rock hierarchy. As they prepare to take their captivating live performances to stages across the U.S., including a much-anticipated official showcase at SXSW in Austin, TX, fans old and new can secure tickets to witness the indomitable spirit of Neptune's Core in action.

Neptune's Core, consisting of sisters Sofie and Hannah Richter, alongside Jackie and Kaitlin Cywinski, continue to blaze a trail with their authentic lyricism and a compelling fusion of genres. Their music, grounded in rock, jazz, and classical influences, resonates with the honesty and fervour of their live shows, creating unforgettable moments for every audience they encounter.

As they carve their niche within the indie scene, Neptune's Core remains anchored in their roots, harkening back to the 90s Chicago rock vibe that inspired them. Their sound—a modern reinterpretation of the classic indie and alt-rock ethos—resounds with the legacy of their hometown heroes while charting a course distinctly their own.

With "Box" and "Anyway" now out in the world, Neptune's Core invites you to dive deep into their universe—a place where authenticity reigns supreme and every song is an adventure waiting to be experienced. Catch the wave of Neptune's Core and witness the power of their music live as they tour this month. Tickets are available now, and you can connect with the band on Instagram and YouTube for a front-row seat to their ongoing musical journey.

ABOUT NEPTUNE’S CORE

Neptune's Core is an alternative indie rock band made of two sets of sisters but work together like four sisters. Consisting of Sofie Richter (vocals/guitar), Jackie Cywinski (guitar/vocals), Kaitlin Cywinski (drums), and Hannah Richter (bass), these four created the bad ass group out of Chicago’s thriving indie-rock scene. Jim DeRogits summed it up best on Sound Opinions, "Their age belies the sophistication of the songwriting and instrumentation ... classic alternative era with delicate fragile quiet moments exploding into loud dynamics."

As talented multi-instrumentalists and passionate music fans, they sought to bring their music to life with a love of indie and punk music while having a background in playing and studying rock, jazz, and classical. And that’s not to mention their heartfelt lyrics and the catharsis when they belt them out behind the microphone. They've self-released two albums (Can't Have It All in 2020, Evolving in 2021) and continually captivate the crowds, regularly performing live at venues and music festivals all over the Chicago and Milwaukee area with bands such as Dehd, Bnny, Mamalarky, and Hana Vu.

Neptune’s Core reflects their growth in musicianship, songwriting, and as people with their latest offering, their EP Called Upon (Side Hustle Records, 2023), recorded with Doug Malone at Jamdek (Deeper, NE-HI, Girl K). They at once look toward the future while also throwing things back to the 90s Chicago rock sound, with bands like Veruca Salt and Smashing Pumpkins being a big inspiration. With melodic bass lines, powerful drumming, shimmery guitars, and an unapologetic sense of self are what give Neptune’s Core their own, truly unique sound.
