Office Wear That Doesn’t Suck

Being forced back into the office sucks— but your outfits don’t have to.

Return-to-office mandates got you down? Dreading public washrooms and the thought of wearing real pants for 8+ hours a day? I don’t blame you. Unfortunately, it seems like just about everyone working for a mid-to-large-sized company in Canada is getting the call to return—at least for two to three days a week. In honour of this, I’ve put together a list of brands that offer office attire that’s both cute and comfortable. If you have to go back, you might as well show up looking and feeling your best.

Halara ($)

Halara gained major hype on online, especially after Taylor Swift was spotted in their High-Waisted Pleated Casual Skirt at Coachella last year. They are the most affordable option on this list, but of course that means that it is fast fashion. I’ve bought a few pieces in the past, and I like them, but you definitely get what you pay for—don’t expect the fabric, cut, or design quality of a higher priced brand.

Uniqlo ($)

Uniqlo is another budget-friendly option, with plenty of in-person stores across Canada—so you can try before you buy! They’re known for their effortless basics and giving a great quality for the price-range. The Pleated Wide Pants are having a major moment on TikTok right now—the girls love their comfy, flowy fit and versatile styling.

GAP ($-$$)

GAP is having a full-on renaissance, and everyone—including their mom—is getting in on it. And for good reason! The brand is serving up timeless, effortlessly cool pieces at a relatively affordable price. Think classic cuts, elevated basics, and a touch of nostalgia—all while keeping things classy and cute.

Ever New ($$)

Ever New is my personal favourite on this list! Founded in Melbourne, Australia, Ever New blends elegance with wearability. I first discovered the brand while hunting for a wedding guest dress at The Bay and found their gorgeous emerald wrap midi dress that has since become a go-to for both professional and cocktail events. With a mix of timeless and trendy pieces, plus a few in-person stores across Canada, it's a great spot for effortlessly polished looks.

J.Crew ($$-$$$)

There’s a reason they’re the OG of preppy-casual chic. While it's on the pricier side, the quality is worth it—these are pieces built to last. Though J.Crew no longer has physical stores in Canada, you can still shop their timeless, polished styles online.

Tank Air ($$$)

Is their clothing technically workwear-appropriate? Well, that depends—where do you work? If it’s at SYNT, then absolutely! A favourite among cool-girl influencers and TikTok trendsetters, Tank Air delivers high-quality pieces with a sleek, Office-Siren edge.

Sézane ($$$)

Born in France in 2013, Sézane is all about offering high-quality pieces at more accessible prices—without overproduction, sales, unsold stock, or waste. The epitome of chic French style, their collection offers effortlessly polished pieces that will instantly elevate your office wardrobe.
