Popstar and Gen Z icon Olivia Rodrigo is making a bold statement while on her GUTS world tour.
According to recent X (formerly Twitter) and Reddit users, the singer is offering fans free boxes of the emergency contraception, Plan B (also known as the morning-after pill), and condoms at her concerts in the US.
With mass public confusion still circulating, we want to take a quick moment to explain that Plan B is an emergency contraception pill, NOT an “abortion pill”: the two medications do not have the same effect, yet are typically interchanged for one another.
According to Planned Parenthood, “The morning-after pill, also known as emergency contraception, helps prevent pregnancy; the abortion pill, also known as medication abortion, ends pregnancy.”
With reputable news sources, like the National Review, claiming that Rodrigo is “Distributing Abortion Pills” at her concert, it’s important to all of us at See You Next Tuesday Media that we get the terminology right, especially when we’re discussing reproductive rights, as these rights continue to be attacked and misinformation from all sides continue to be spread.

This move comes on the heels of the star’s newly formed Fund 4 Good, “a global initiative committed to building an equitable and just future for women and girls through direct support of community-based non-profits that champion girls’ education, support reproductive rights and prevent gender-based violence” (as per the Entertainment Industry Foundation).
Additionally, a portion of the proceeds from all ticket sales at the GUTS world tour to Fund 4 Good, and during the North American legs of the GUTS world tour, “Olivia will partner with local chapters of the National Network of Abortion Funds to ensure those most impacted by systemic racism, misogyny, and healthcare barriers can get the reproductive care they deserve.” (as per the Entertainment Industry Foundation).
Having big names like Olivia Rodrigo speak up and show active support for these services is critical, especially in the USA given the recent overturning of Roe v. Wade and the war on reproductive rights currently unfolding.
"Supporting abortion funds has never been more critical, in an era where abortion access is under relentless attack," Oriaku Njoku, NNAF's executive director, told USA TODAY. "We are excited to be in partnership with Olivia Rodrigo, as she's uplifting the critical work of abortion funds, and leading (her fans) into the movement towards reproductive freedom."
On Tuesday night the singer performed in in St. Louis, Missouri, where the venue had booths run by the Missouri Abortion Fund and Text Right By You, “youth-focused text line connecting Missourians to abortion care, birth care, adoption and parenting supports, birth control, and information about their rights.”
As more and more women around the world face uncertainty surrounding their reproductive rights, statements, and bold moves like this are needed to continue to fight against unjust and unfair policies. We applaud Olivia Rodrigo and are amazed at her courage to stand up for what she believes in.
