LA-based, pitch black, electro meets darkwave duo Sleek Teeth released the third single, “Operating”, from their upcoming debut EP, on September 20th. "Operating" is an irresistible and danceable track, yet with menacing beats and striking synths, making the song a hypnotic listen.
Sleek Teeth are trademarked by moody, melodic electronic music, blending elements of darkwave, electro-pop and EBM. Their projects explore the depths of isolation, dissociation, and the struggle to make sense of the senseless, all without shying away from a good hook. Haunting vocals with a hint of melodrama hover over pulse-pounding beats, delivering a dynamic and cathartic experience.
“Operating” follows up the band’s high energy, hook-laden debut single, "Gone", along with an ambitious cinematic music video featuring a compelling dystopian narrative. Their second single, "Endless", is a melodic, danceable darkwave offering with an anthemic chorus, accompanied by a music video featuring a mysterious journey into the unknown.
As for the inspiration behind this track, the band says "It's hardly a paranoid concept to believe that there are unseen forces perpetually at work in our world. We're not talking reptilian humanoids pulling the strings from the shadows, but things that are far less fantastic (and potentially just as menacing). Transparency rarely benefits those who would seek to manipulate others for their own gain, so it's good to remember that what you see isn't always what you get."
The dark synth sound of the single mirrors the ephemerality of the lyrical content. Unique, soft, low register, echoing vocals perfectly compliment the ambient instrumentals, casting a dystopian, ethereal, and cinematic light over the song. Thanks to masterful production, the layering of diverse musical textures creates a perfectly unified sound.
