Sun Room Releases Their New EP, “At Least I Tried”
The rambunctious rock trio’s new EP, “At Least I Tried”, is best listened to while creating havoc and/or making mischief.
Sun Room, the dynamic trio from SoCal’s surf-rock scene, has dropped their latest EP, “At Least I Tried.” Produced mostly by Zac Carper of FIDLAR, the four tracks are fast, loud, and lyrically carefree. Frontman Luke Asgian describes the lead track, “At Least I Tried,” as a celebration of finding joy amidst life's chaos and the challenges of touring. The next track, “Cut My Hair”, is “about a summer fling that ends when Fall rolls around, the same time I usually cut my hair,”again emphasizing resilience in the face of setbacks.
“Kicking Rocks” provides a laid-back, beachy interlude before the EP concludes with “Stuck In The Heat,” symbolizing the band's explosive growth. Asgian expresses gratitude for Southern California's influence on their sound, crafting the EP in the garage during a summer at home.
Asgian shares, “It feels like we’ve spent such a large portion of our lives on tour the past couple years, which we’re so stoked on, but it also makes you appreciate Southern California that much more. Whenever we’re on the road, I think we get such a sense of nostalgia for the culture down here and the sound of all the bands from the beach towns we grew up in. Spending so much time driving through farms in the Midwest on tour will really make you want to write something profoundly Californian.”
He continues, “Of course, we have other influences, but the garage rock scene that we all grew up on down here is so ingrained in us and I think that really shows on this EP, which we’re really proud of. The process of writing it was all during a summer at home in between surfs, in the garage. Even if we’re playing arenas one day, we’ll always jam in a garage. It would be really hard to write a Sun Room song in some multi-million dollar studio or rehearsal space.”
Singles like “At Least I Tried” and “Cut My Hair” have garnered praise, with playlist features on Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music.
Following a successful show at LA's Fonda Theatre, Sun Room embarks on a lively North American tour before heading to Australia for their first headline tour and festival performances.

Sun Room has emerged as the leading surf-rock band in Southern California, without ever trying to do anything other than have a good time. Comprising Luke Asgian (lead vocals & guitar), Ashton Minnich (guitar), and Max Pinamonti (bass), the trio initially gained traction in the local surf community. Viral success, with singles like "Crashed My Bike" and "Something That You're Missing" featured on Netflix's Outer Banks, propelled them to new heights.
In just six months, Sun Room achieved milestones such as performing at Austin City Limits, selling out US headline shows, supporting Louis Tomlinson's tours, and touring Europe with Inhaler. Returning to the US after a global tour, they sold over 13,000 tickets during their first North American headline tour from September to October 2022.
Spring 2023 saw Sun Room touring North America with Inhaler and conducting their own headline run in the Southeast, playing in Florida beach towns and concluding at Shaky Knees in Atlanta. Following a 30+ date headline tour across North America, Sun Room released their EP “At Least I Tried.” The remainder of the year will see the band embarking on their first headline tour in Australia, along with numerous festival appearances.
