Today, the New York psych-garage quartet, The Thing, announces their upcoming second album, "The Thing Is," by releasing its third single, "Midnight." The track, a three-minute burst of precisely tuned overdrive, showcases the band's relentless and fast-paced musical style, offering a glimpse of what's to come on their forthcoming record set to release on February 2nd.

Comprising Zane Acord, Jack Bradley, Michael Carter, and Lucas Ebeling, The Thing is dedicated to achieving a distinct sound, deeply influenced by the DIY ethos of their predecessors. Established in 2022, the band gained momentum through their love for touring and live performances, engaging fans with their energetic shows.

The group adopts an in-house approach, recording at their East Williamsburg studio, Onion Records, creating their own visuals, and developing a visual identity that blends 90s grit with 70s allure. "Midnight" originated from a jam session years ago, evolving into a trance-like experience during recording sessions for the upcoming album.

The band shares, "The lyrics were inspired by conversations about nuclear weapons and the existential theme of our time on earth measured by a doomsday clock countdown. We delved into existential questions, affirming our belief in a creative life, with the spy-like instrumental essence fitting the lyrical theme nicely."

Accompanying the release of "Midnight" is the official video shot at Horseman Antiques, a renowned Brooklyn store where band member Michael used to work. The video concept revolves around portraying the band as burglars seeking a coveted item in the antique store.

Originating in high school, The Thing was founded by Michael Carter, Jack Bradley, and Zane Acord, driven by their shared love for rock & roll. Influenced by 60s pioneers and inspired by contemporary bands like Brian Jonestown Massacre and The Black Keys, the band honed their craft and generated buzz in New York City.

After extensive touring and grassroots attention, their debut album, "Here’s The Thing," was released in April 2023. With the addition of Lucas Ebeling on drums, the band continues to tour, record new music, and make their mark in the modern rock & roll scene as they work towards their second album, "The Thing Is."

The band is gearing up for their North American tour, commencing with a hometown show at TV EYE in New York City. The tour will snake its way across the country, including a stop at Treefort Music Fest and other yet-to-be-announced festivals.
